Madagascar – Creating opportunities through education
Many workers at Amama Farms travel long distances to reach the factory each day.
Through bicycles and an expanded veggie garden, this project aims to improve mobility, wellbeing and access to fresh meals for approximately 300 workers.
A damaged school was limiting opportunities for local children
For years, children in Ambohimanarina attended classes in a school that had suffered severe weather damage.
The deteriorating infrastructure created difficult learning conditions and limited access to quality education.
Without a safe and functional learning environment, children faced unnecessary barriers to learning and development.
Creating a safe place to learn and grow
In 2020, a new school was built to provide children with a better environment for education.
The facility includes four classrooms, a library, a playground, a vegetable garden, a kitchen and sanitation facilities.
Today, the school provides a safe and welcoming space where children can learn, develop new skills and prepare for the future.
Expanding opportunities beyond the classroom
In January 2026, a new basketball court was completed, creating additional opportunities for sports, recreation and social development.
The court provides children with a safe space to play, stay active and develop teamwork skills outside the classroom.
It has quickly become a valued addition to the school and a place where children can learn, grow and connect through sport.
More than a school
The school serves more than students. Its classrooms are also used to train local farmers from the surrounding community.
Training programmes focus on sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, biodiversity conservation, food safety, organic certification and human rights.
By sharing knowledge and practical skills, the school contributes to the long term development of the wider community.
The school was built. Now we must keep it running.
