Better daily conditions create stronger communities.
When people have safer, healthier and more dignified working conditions, entire communities become stronger.
Improving living & working conditions
Behind every product, there are people, families and communities. There are daily routines, long working days, journeys between home and work, and the need for safe, healthy and dignified conditions.
Through this pillar, Monchy Trivium Foundation supports projects that help improve the daily reality of people in origin communities. Such as better mobility, access to fresh food, wellbeing at work and safer working conditions.
We believe that improving living and working conditions is not only about the workplace. It is about the full daily life of the people connected to the products we source.
Our work in Tanzania
At Amama Farms in Tanzania, cashews are processed close to where they are grown. This is an important step in the cashew supply chain. In the past, cashews were shipped to Asia for processing before travelling again to customers in Europe and other markets. By processing cashews at origin, it avoids unnecessary kilometres and keeps more value in Tanzania.
Our presence at Amama Farms helps us better understand the everyday needs of the people working there. Through Monchy Trivium Foundation, we support projects that improve daily life, from mobility and access to fresh food to wellbeing during the working day.
For us, better living and working conditions start with listening, understanding what people need, and supporting actions that can make a real difference in everyday life.
Bike project
Making the journey to work easier.
In some rural communities in tanzania, getting to work is not always easy. The distance between home and the workplace can be long. Many people depend on walking, combining different forms of transport, spending a lot of time travelling every day.
Amama’s workers are mostly women, and for some of them, the working day starts long before they arrive. Their daily journey to work can take up to two hours, making mobility an important part of everyday life.
Having a bike can help workers who live far away start and end their days differently, cutting down on travel time, lowering physical effort, and giving them more independence.
In 2024, we launched the bike project, collecting 224 bikes for Amama workers. These bikes were then repaired, painted and prepared to be used again. The idea was to give the bikes a second life for Amama workers.
A small repair workshop was also created at Amama Farms to ensure the project does not end with the delivery of bicycles. This workshop makes it possible to repair and maintain the bikes. It helps keep the bikes in use over time and prevents them from being left aside because of a small technical problem, making sure they remain useful.
A bicycle can help a worker arrive with less fatigue. It can save time before and after work. It can make the journey home easier and give more flexibility during the day.
Veggie garden
Grown by the workers, for the workers
This project is not only about growing vegetables. It is about supporting daily wellbeing at Amama Farms.
The veggie garden connects food, health and participation, strengthening the connection between Amama’s workers.
Today, the garden produces around 50 kg of vegetables per week. These vegetables are used to prepare meals for workers at Amama farms.
At the moment, this production supports 2 lunches per week of fresh food during the working day.
From 2 lunches to 5 lunches per week
The goal of the project is to expand and strengthen the veggie garden production from 50 kg to 300 kg of vegetables per week. More produce means more fresh ingredients available for worker meals, making the garden more productive and more useful for Amama’s workers.
Today, the garden supports 2 lunches per week. After the project, the goal is to provide up to 5 lunches per week, giving workers more regular access to fresh food during the working week.
