Jao is 8 years old and, as the oldest brother, is part of a family of 4 children in total. Mum and dad work day in and day out on the plantations in Madagascar to provide for their daily living and that of their children. Unfortunately, it is not enough to provide the family with the basic necessities. Hygiene, clean drinking water and education are lacking or are not sufficient. Jao and his siblings have not experienced a consistent school day so far. Due to the lack of sufficient funding, Jao and countless children in Madagascar are at the mercy of donations and few have the opportunity for a consistent education. A cycle that is not easily or quickly broken with help.
Help is needed for Jao, the people of Madagascar and various locations around the world. The foundation aims to contribute to improving livelihoods of communities and smallholder farmers involved in the group’s supply chains through education and training, and the implementation of regenerative agricultural practices.
Thanks to the help and donations from Stichting Trivium, a school has been built for Jao and all the other generations that meets all the requirements. The classrooms are big enough to accommodate all the students. The school previously had 135 children attending part-time classes. The project of Stichting Trivium (and its partners) has made it possible for 255 children to attend school full-time now. The local residents are also convinced of the positive change the project has brought about.
