Sambavanilla
As DMNP’s primary business is within vanilla, the tri-party partnership decided to carry out the project in SAVA, the world’s vanilla capital
Sambavanille is a vanilla preparer, collector, and exporter in Sambava. For years, the collection area has been in the Sambava axis towards Andapa, especially in Ambohimanarina. Within this village, the Macky association was created on the 2nd of March 2020. In the framework of sustainable development, the town deserved to benefit from this great initiative.
Construction
After the estimation and completion of the project and without any further delay, construction began on the 21st of January 2020. The company SIVANA was selected to build 4 classrooms, a large terrace, toilets, and 2 offices for the principal within 6 months. A cooperation that went very well.
Despite the impact of the pandemic on economic and social life, the school was finished and provisionally opened on the 20th of August 2020. Unfortunately, a celebration was not possible because of the health barriers that had to be respected. Even though the provisional inauguration was only symbolic, the joy of the villagers was clearly noticeable during this unforgettable moment.
The achievement of building a school in Madagascar was a success for the children’s education and benefited the entire village.
Official ceremony
Despite the delay caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the official inauguration ceremony of the Ambohumanarina Public Primary School took place on the 27th of October 2020. More than 1000 people were expected during this day, including 950 producers in 14 villages, 100 guests, and villagers from Ambohimanarina. As the ceremony ended, the Trivium team slowly left the venue around 4:00 pm, but the party in the village continued until the next day.
Everyone was happy and having a good time during the entire day. The authorities mentioned in their speech that they are proud of Sambavanille, DMNP, and the Trivium Foundation for this initiative and building the most beautiful school in the region.
Developments
Currently, much progress is being made at the new school, and the parents and children are very happy. To stimulate the quality of education even further, De Monchy Natural Products and Trivium Foundation have shared various English books from DMNP’s employee Cindy Haenn (Sales Operations Manager, USA).
We want to thank De Monchy Natural Products and Sambavanille again for all efforts made in building the Public Primary School, despite the challenging circumstances. We look forward to the future and the development of all the children in Ambohimanarina!
